I have a 16GB mi3, and do feel the pain of 12.5 GB free space. One thing is for sure. If correctly used, 12.5 GB is enough. But you need to do regular backups and cleanups of the memory. Which is good, if you lose the phone, you will have less data to lose.
If you use, whatsapp and FB regularly, and have big games installed and sync a lot of mails. Forget 16 GB phones. It will become a pain. A minimum 32 GB would be required.

Abhi its a paradox that most of high end phone doesn’t come with expandable memory.iPhone 4s had only 8 GB memory,even iphone6 with 50000 rs starts with 16 GB storage,other example Samsung s6,one plus one etc.
. I m using mi3and one plus one, for clicking pic and sorting lits of music with few high end game 16 GB is enough, but yes my 64 GB one plus one rocks.
Will not stay in the market..Xiaomi high end phones are offering good specs and features but they don’t have the option to expand memory.
A phone with 13 mp rear camera is useless if internal memory available to user is only 12.77 gb
